Privacy Policy — "Is This Safe? — Extension Auditor"

Last updated: 30 May 2026

Short version: This extension does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything it does happens locally inside your own browser. There are no servers, no analytics, and no third parties.

What the extension does

"Is This Safe?" reads the list of extensions installed in your browser and the permissions each one requests, using Chrome's management API. It calculates a risk score for each extension and explains, in plain language, what that extension is able to access. This analysis runs entirely on your device.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect personal information, browsing history, the contents of web pages, or any identifiers. The information about your installed extensions is read at the moment you open the popup (or when an extension is installed/changed) and is used only to display results to you.

Data we store

To detect when an extension is newly installed or gains new permissions, the extension saves a snapshot of your installed extensions' names and permissions in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). This snapshot never leaves your device and is removed if you uninstall the extension.

Data we share or sell

None. We do not transmit data off your device, so there is nothing to share or sell. The extension makes no network requests.
